Education
Prior to the first class date - we will gather the information needed to make appropriate interpreter selections and provide them with preparation materials they need. In addition to the date, start & end time, and location of the appointment, we will need the following information:
-
Name of the Deaf student
Community Classes:
-
Include the topic of the community class
-
If there are preparation materials, such as a power point presentation, please email those to access@a2sl.com
Note: These may require 2 interpreters depending on the length of the class
K-12 Educational:
Each educational interpreter in Colorado have passed the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) along with Colorado Department of Ed. approval and background check can work in K-12 schools. In Kansas the interpreter will have passed the EIPA or ESSE at level 4.0 or better and registered with KCDHH & KSDE is required to interpret in K-12 schools. We will give these credentials to the K-12 school.
-
Please send us the students class schedule
-
Room numbers/location
-
The interpreter will check in at the front off on the first day of class. If this is scheduled ongoing, please let us know if you would like the interpreter to continue to check in at the office each day or if they may proceed to the classroom.
Note: Typically K-12 interpreters are scheduled alone and do not require a team. Usually the interpreter receives a lunch break at the same time as their Deaf student.
Post-Secondary Educational:

Please send us the name of the class the student is taking
-
Location of the class on campus by building and room number
-
If available, please reserve the class book for the interpreter to borrow
-
If a parking permit is required, please let us know where the interpreter may pick that up
Note: Short classes that are 50 minutes to an hour usually only need 1 interpreter. Higher level classes; such as a PhD program, will often need 2 interpreters. Classes that are 90 minutes or greater usually will need a team of 2 interpreters.
