Concerts
Leading up to the concert - Prior to the event we will gather the information needed to make appropriate interpreter selections and provide them with preparation materials they need. It is recommended to book the interpreters 30 minutes prior to the event start time to ensure interpreters are able to get placed amid fans. In addition to the date, start & end time, and location of the event, we will need the following information:
-
Deaf attendees names
-
Please let us know if the Deaf client has any specific interpreter requests
-
-
Name of the person they should check-in with onsite and where to find them
-
Many concerts require special passes for interpreters to enter or be in certain locations; please let us know where to obtain these
-
-
Concert singer(s)
-
Interpreters will wear attire specific to the artists and setting
-
-
Setlist of songs for the concert
-
Parking for the interpreters
-
It is common to give the interpreters parking passes or other reserved parking as part of the staffing
-
-
Please let us know in advance if this concert is recorded or live streamed; if the interpreters will be included on the video.
During the Event - Concerts will require a team of 2 interpreters. The placement for the interpreters is best to the right or to the left of the stage, in the front usually near the stage. The seating for the Deaf section should be near the interpreters where the Deaf patrons can view both the concert and interpreters simultaneously. The interpreters should be in a well-lit area; which also tends to mean near stage is more suitable for this accessibility. Headsets for the interpreter team are also helpful at larger concert venues.
