Appointments in the legal realm for interpretation purposes includes, but is not limited to: court proceedings, police/detective interviews, client-attorney meetings, probation hearings, and signing of home closing documents.
Prior to the appointment - we will gather the information needed to make appropriate interpreter selections and provide them with preparation materials they need. In addition to the date, start & end time, and location of the appointment, we will need the following information:
Court:

Name of the Deaf client

Setting/situation regarding the case

Include if the Deaf client is a defendant, victim, witness, etc

The stage the case (pre-trial, arraignment, trial, etc)

The case number or the juror number for jury service

Division or courtroom
Police, Detective, Social Worker Interviews:

Name and age of the Deaf client

May require a Deaf Interpreter

General context of the interview or incident
Dispatch

For an urgent and active situation in the field, please give us the name of the officer and their phone number, so we can give them an eta on the interpreter arrival

Our interpreters can not be on an active scene without an officer present

Note: Legal interpreters will be unable to Mirandaize in the field. They will need to have 2 legal interpreters and a recording of the Miranda.
