Religious Service
We will gather the information needed to make appropriate interpreter selections and provide them with preparation materials they need. In addition to the date, start & end time, and location of the appointment, we will need the following information:
Leading up to the service:
-
Name of the Deaf person and any interpreter requests they have
-
Please send us the service schedule and the songs planned for the service
-
If not clear from name; please let us know the religious service type or which denomination.
-
We have a diverse group of religious interpreters and we will try to make the best match for the service type.
-
-
The attire for the service - either the implied or explicit dress code
-
Our interpreters will arrive in professional attire for the service but please let us know if there are other requirements/suggestions, such as women wear skirts and dresses
-
During the service: Usually religious services will need a team of 2 interpreters. The placement for the interpreters is best to the right or to the left of the stage, in the front usually near the stage. The seating for the Deaf section should be near the interpreters where the Deaf members can view both the service and interpreters simultaneously. The interpreters should be in a well-lit area; which also tends to mean near stage is more suitable for this accessibility. Sometimes a small platform is provided for the interpreters, as well as a music stand to hold song and notes.
